Lionel Messi is to open Leo Messi Fashion Line

In 2008 Cristiano “CR9” Ronaldo won FIFA World Player of the Year; and in the next following year, Lionel Messi won the same title. In this 2010, LEO MESSI has once again surpassed Ronaldo in the list of highest earning athletes by US Magazine; The Argentine footballer earned £28,946,700 along the year, sitting at #6 on the list above David Beckham (£26,640,962) and Cristiano Ronaldo (£26,312,100). Today, two years after CR7 collections banged up the world, Lionel Messi is also to open his own fashion line. It seems that the rivalry continues!

With height only 1.69 m (5 ft 7 in) Lionel Andrés Messi (born 24 June 1987) certainly doesn’t have perfect proportion to be a model for his own brand. I think he’s too short!

However, the successor of Diego Maradona has the trick! Besides Messi himself, the Argentine footballer has also been recruiting prominent celebrities from Europe and USA for being the endorsers. Messi’s dream team includes Chelsea’s FRANK LAMPARD for London, Manchester United’s WAYNE ROONEY for Manchester, Allesandro Nesta for Milan, actor COLIN FARRELL for Dublin, rapper JAY-Z for New York, rapper LUPE FIASCO for Chicago and soccer player DAVID BECKHAM for L.A.

Messi said:

“I have been working on it for a few months. It would be me in Barcelona. We’ve approached Wayne for Manchester, Frank for London, and Colin for Dublin. We have spoken with Jay-Z for New York and the dream is to have David for LA. I already have (footballer) Allesandro Nesta and (rapper) Lupe Fiasco in Milan and Chicago.”

LEO MESSI FASHION LINE will be a high-end clothes and accessories for men competing with Cristiano Ronaldo’s “CR9” fashion brand as well as LIAM GALLAGHER’s Pretty Green label. The initial shops will be open next summer.

In terms of fashion, LEO MESSI has become the model for Nike ad when he was 14 years old; and since 2006, he is officially under contract for five years with ADIDAS. The brown-haired man starred in ads for the latest products of Adidas: F50 adiZero – the special Adidas football boots which is claimed as the lightest shoes ever made. Messi became the first football player who wore the shoe, specially designed with a combination of purple and white, during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. A few months before the World Cup tournament, Messi signed a contract with Swiss luxury watchmaker AUDEMARS PIGUET to become the brand ambassador.

Frequently cited as the world’s best contemporary player, LIONEL MESSI started his career at a very young age. He joined Rosario Football Club and Newell’s Old Boys before going to Barcelona. In La Liga, he made many great achievements.

Making his debut in the 2004–05 season, Messi broke the La Liga record for the youngest footballer to play a league game, and also the youngest to score a league goal. Major honors soon followed as Barcelona won La Liga in Messi’s debut season, and won a double of the league and Champions League in 2006. His breakthrough season was in 2006–07; he became a first team regular, scoring a hat-trick in El Clásico and finishing with 14 goals in 26 league games. Perhaps his most successful season was the 2008–09 season, in which Messi scored 38 goals to play an integral part in a treble-winning campaign.

Lionel Messi is a legendary striker of FC Barcelona and its national team, in which he sports the legendary No. 10 jersey - the number of the most famous players in the world.

In 2009, this determined and enthusiastic young man was rewarded with a series of awards and honors: 2009 FIFA World Player of the Year, the 2009 Ballon d’Or award and the player of the Spanish league (along with team success with FC Barcelona, such as the 2006 UEFA Champions League Winner and 2009 sextuple Winner comprising the La Liga, Copa del Rey, Supercopa de España, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup).
